Hi friends! I’m looking for narrative books about the experience of addiction. I specifically want to learn about what it’s like walking in the shoes of someone struggling with addiction.
* Would consider realistic fiction or bio/memoir, but not looking for medical texts or how-to books about beating addiction — want it to be about the actual human experience with the process of addiction
* Books about drug addiction are definitely of interest, but I’d consider books about alcoholism, gambling addictions, or other serious addiction-like topics as well
* Would like to read about the spectrum of the addiction process — the fun experiences early on as well as the complications and struggles that come later
* It can end with them beating the addiction OR the addiction claiming them; I’m not looking exclusively for triumphs or defeats
Thank you!
