Talking about thrillers/crime/mystery, I really enjoyed the Millenium saga (the first three books) but it is a long book (500+).
If you prefer a smaller book, maybe try Silent Screams – Angela Marsons (400 pages), The Girl Before – J. P. Delaney (350 pages), Verity – Coleen Hoover (300 pages) or The Silent Patient – Alex Michaelides (350 pages).

The crying of lot 49 is the most recent mystery/detective book i’ve read but it’s more absurdist humor oriented than horror related. There’s also Snow Crash which is a science fiction book that also fits the mystery/detective genre in a lot of ways.

Historical mystery: The Eye of the Needle, or The Man From St. Petersburg, both by Ken Follett: The Glass of Time, by Michael Fox; Hidden Fires: A Holmes Before Baker Street Adventure, by Jane Rubino; A Free Man of Color, by Barbara Hambly
Contemporary mystery (not necessarily detective or cop) Gentlemen and Players, by Joanne Harris; Death in Bloodhound Red, by Virginia Lanier; Fake Like Me, by Barbara Bourland; This Dark Road to Mercy, by Wiley Cash
