One of the funniest novels I’ve ever read is “How I Became a Famous Novelist,” by Steve Hely, which manages to satirize contemporary literature, bestseller lists and college creative writing programs perfectly. I’d love to find other contemporary books that are genuinely funny with a satirical and darkly humorous bent (and aren’t taking themselves too seriously). I love Nancy Mitford as well and her way of making fun of virtually everyone in society as well, but I’ve yet to find a modern writer that quite lives up to her excellence.
