Firstly, I’m sincerely sorry, but I have never read Lord of the Rings. 🙁 It seems like there’s a lot of characters and place names to remember, and I’m just not about all that right now, Jack.
What I’m looking for:
– medieval time period or similar for whatever world it takes place in (robes, horse-drawn carriages, taverns, the like; not modern times)
– wizards that cast spells
– lots of different races (elves, dwarves, magic folk, mythic critters)
– comedy (doesn’t have to be jokes every other sentence, but one snarky but lovable character with quips might do)
– something I can follow well enough while stoned on the reefer
Would also be nice to have:
– not 80 billion names to memorize
– bit o’romance? (adult theme but not crazy smutty)
– audiobook form
This is so specific, lol. Is there something out there that fits the bill or comes close? Thanks for any suggestions! 💚

Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames.
It’s a fun adventure heavily influenced by stuff like D&D. Lots of funny moments, pretty easy to follow, and a surprising amount of heart in there too.
The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett. Great introduction to the Discworld series. And I believe it covers all of your requests.
You might like the books by David Eddings. There’s usually a snarky rogue-like character in his stories.
If it’s your thing, Terry Pratchett has me laughing a lot.
