The first book I read was, it ends with us, by Colleen Hoover. I did have it on my list because everyone raves about her books, I wanted to see what the hype was. Although it was a page turner/good pace to keep me reading, some of the writing was weird and odd like the fertilizer part I thought was odd but it also just worked well. A lot of people read it as a romance which I don’t think it is but can see how some would say it partially is I guess. But I will say it took me on an emotional roller coaster, I definitely cried at some parts, got mad, got excited/happy, etc… I am curious about the second book, it starts with us, but I’m in no rush to get it. Overall I rate it 7/10, I didn’t hate but didn’t love but liked it enough.

I just finished my second book last night… the perfect marriage, by Jeneva Rose. I’ve wanted this book but never could find but then saw it on Spotify for audiobooks… I couldn’t listen to it and when I saw my mom got it for me for Christmas I wasn’t super excited but I still read it because she spent money on it and I did have it on my list. I loved it. Sarah is top tier defense attorney and her husband Adam is a struggling writer. Sarah consumes herself with work which means Adam doesn’t see her a lot, no quality time, etc… so of course he has a mistress (Kelly) for 16 months and thinks he’s slick because he has her come to the lake house an hour away from home. Well Kelly gets murdered in the lake house while in bed, obviously Adam is prime suspect which I get but also not. Kelly was stabbed while in bed, why would someone leave a dead body/person they killed in their house or somewhere that has association with that person, unless they want to be caught? Well Sarah, adams wife, takes Adam on as her client for this case to prove that he isn’t guilty. Yes he’s a cheater, liar, etc… but not a murderer. The chapters go back and forth with Sarah and adams POV starting with their marriage, affair, trying to solve who actually did this. There’s several characters that we meet and made me think okay it’s definitely them, they’re the murderer, then a page or chapter later I change my mind even though it’s obvious who did it but with all the details you second guess yourself. Good page turner, had me feel a lot of emotions like anger, sympathy & empathy, excitement, suspense, and sadness (I did cry towards end). The ending was good but then had huge plot twist and jaw dropping details. I feel like this is a good read for someone who enjoyed the silent patient, psychological thriller/suspense. I rate it a 9.5/10, the -0.5 is because there’s some things I wish were included or done differently.

Out of the two books, I think it’s clear I liked the perfect marriage way more. I definitely recommend it!
