I have such a backlog on my tbr and I’m always in the middle of a book that even when I preorder a book and get it the day it releases, I usually do not read it for months. In fact, I can’t think of a time when I looked forward to a book release and started to read it the day it came out. It’s sort of a dream of mine to be excited for a book release, wait impatiently for it, go out to my local store to pick it up on release day and go immediately home to start reading. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun. lol. But it’s never worked out that way for me. I even have friends who have taken the day off of work to read a new release on release day—especially back in the day when midnight releases were a bigger thing.

Curious to hear from others. Do you sort of “make an event” out of a book release? Or just buy it and get to it when you can?

Almost always. The only reason I buy a book instead of waiting for the library version is because I am extremely curious.

Almost never. I’m always in the middle of something. I’ll read things years later sometimes.
