# EDIT: Thank you for all of the great suggestions! I’ll definitely be chipping away at these this year. And an extra thanks for not spamming Murakami; he’s fine, but I’m happy to get some other authors that I hadn’t heard of before.
This year I’ve been on a streak of reading translated works, and have really enjoyed all of the Japanese authors and would love to find more. So far this year I’ve read:
* The Great Passage by Shion Miura
* Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yakisawa
* The Mill House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji
* The Tatami Galaxy by Tomihiko Morimi
Any recs would be greatly appreciated!

Kamogawa Food Detectives if you like more slice of life, food related stuff.
And maybe try Keigo Higashino’s mysteries like The Devotion of Suspect X and Salvation of a Saint.
Convenience store woman by Sayaka Murata
It’s children’s fiction, but I liked Miyabe Miyuki’s Brave Story and The Book of Heroes.
The Tattoo Murder Case by Akimitsu Takagi
Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Kawaguchi is lovely. The Memory Police by Ogawa is ominous. I enjoyed them both.
Asian literature is my favourite genre. Here’s a list of the ones I have read and liked:
* Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
* Sweet Bean Paste by Durian Sukegawa
* The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yōko Ogawa
* There’s No Such Thing as an Easy Job by Kikuko Tsumura
* Confessions by Kanae Minato
I’ve read Murakami’s Birthday Girl but I didn’t like it much, so I’m not going to recommend it.
I found a list on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/japanese-literature
The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea by Mishima Yukio is a must read.
Musashi by Eije Yoshikawa
