This is probably a weird ask, but I’m looking for non-fiction related to craft, DIY or art that explore the philosophy of how and why people make things. I’m not looking for instructional texts on how to make stuff, but something higher level on how art and craft fit into society. Autobiographies of makers who talk about their creative process would probably also work.
In my search I’ve read some John Ruskin, and fell in love with Adam Savage’s Every Tool is a Hammer, to give you a bit of an idea what I’m looking for.
