I was casually browsing the book section of a thrift store when this book caught my eye, the moment I pulled it off the shelf and looked at the cover I was flooded with memories of my pre-teen years.

Found! I remembered this book, a story of adopted kids stolen from time.

I read it 10 years ago when I was in middle school, I remember loving this book. I looked around more hoping to see the sequel and… there it was. Sent! The sequel I remembered this one too! It was like fate that I would find them both, along with the third installment, Sabotaged, which I don’t recall reading.

For 2 dollars each, these books were worth it. I finished found in a day in a half (would’ve been a day if it weren’t for work) and it’s as good as I remember. It’s very rare for me to find a book I can confidently call a page-turner, but this one absolutely is.

Found is a story about 13-year-old Jonah who has known he is adopted for his entire life. One day he finds a strange letter in the mail with the words: YOU ARE ONE OF THE MISSING. He brushes it off as a prank until his friend and neighbor, Chip receives the same letter moments before finding out he too is adopted.

Jonah, Chip, and his nosey sister Kathrine fall down a rabbit hole of uncovering this mystery. Other letters arrive, the name of an FBI agent is uncovered, a list of names of other children called “survivors” is found, and the children meet with a woman who is haunted by an event that took place 13 years ago when Jonah and Chip were babies.

I love, love, love this book. Hats off to you Margaret Peterson Haddix. I like that she wastes no time, there are no unnecessary monologs about unimportant information, and each sentence moves the plot(and mystery) forward.

Warning if you read this book, the ending is satisfying in giving the reader and main characters answers to their questions…only to create many more questions. We get an overwhelming amount of information in the last few chapters resulting in a major cliffhanger. Good thing I have the next book.

Young adult, adult, whomever. If you love a good page-turner and mystery with a dash of science fiction this book series is the one for you.
