As the title suggests, I’ve been wanting to read a story about a person who squandered their youth or the best years of their life. This could stem from complacency, self-isolation following bullying, or repeated failures in exams such as NEET, gaokao, JEE, etc., over the years. Now, a weary and exhausted man with only a high school diploma, he watches his friends progress in life—landing their first jobs, buying their first houses, getting married, having kids, etc

He comes to the realization for the first time that he no longer has his youth, without ever having made any meaningful memories or connections—a person whose moral, emotional, and social development was effectively frozen in time. This realization prompts him to acknowledge that he can’t rely on his parents forever and motivates him to stand on his own two feet. Initially, he faces challenges with jobs he considers below his level due to his upbringing that instilled the notion that not all professions are equally worthy of respect. While grappling with relatives and former acquaintances, like his classmates mocking him, it’s partly because he talked big about what he would accomplish in life during his school years.

It would be a big plus if it focused heavily on developing his attitude, outlook on life, emotional maturity, social competency, moral character, and self-reliance.

TL;DR – a story about a person who picks himself up after having wasted his youth

    Thank you.
