Basically the title. The protagonist could be a detective, a police man or whatever. I once went for a dive to look for something like that and I even found something, but unfortunately I didnt save it so I have no idea what it was called. I can remember from a quick glance at a summary that at one point the protagonist investigates in a night club, where elves had to work as prostitutes lol.
I am aware of Dresden and Nightside novels. Nightside seems okaish but Dresden is too light hearted.
