Yes, I’m aware this is a weird question. Over the years I’ve found a lot of books w/ really annoying, pretentious, insufferable male narrators with a totally negative outlook on life (The Narrator from Fight Club or Holden Caulfield) and I really enjoy the way these books are written and the overall bitchy-ness of these characters, but honestly I wish I knew more books with female narrators that act like this. I’m not sure why, I think I’m just sort of bored with basic sweet poorly-written female characters + if I’m being honest I act a tad pretentious sometimes lol.
I read My Year of Rest and Relaxation a couple months ago and it quickly became one of my favorite books because of the way the main character is written. Not looking for any specific genre, but overall books with similar main characters to The Narrator from Rest and Relaxation. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!
