I know everyone says the book is usually better which obviously makes sense since books can usually take more creative liberties and add more details. But I have a feeling that there’s one or two movies that’s done justice for the book. I’ve personally felt that the Divergent series did the books justice but I wouldn’t fully count it considering they never did the third book.

What do you think? Is there a movie adaptation that represents the book well?

(I’ve actually heard that I am Legend is better than the book as well. But I suppose I’ll have to find that out for myself.)

No Country for Old Men, Remains of the Day, Talented Mr Ripley, Lolita (kubrick’s) and Age of Innocence are all great books and great movies.

Fight Club is a good movie, I liked the book too but there are some important differences.

American Psycho and Starship Troopers movies are better than the books.

I thought The Hours was a wonderful adaptation and it is one of the rare cases where the book is just as amazing as the movie and vice versa.

    3. Fight Club. I think they did a great job of keeping close to the story, and casting Helena B-C as Marla was a great choice.

    4. I read 3/4 of A Song of Ice and Fire (put it down and then life happened) last year and that book felt like it was scene for scene the entire season 1 of GoT it was incredibly faithful and I don’t recall much if anything happening in the book that didn’t happen in the show in season 1, I was expecting to read subplots that got left out in the show.

    5. I thought that The Hunger Games films really did a great job of visually capturing the story especially the first two books/movies. Idk if this is unpopular lol don’t crucify me.

    6. The spectacular now is much better than the book. The book made me dislike aimee more than sutter, but the movie helped me feel more sympathetic for them both.

Jurassic Park deviated from the book here and there, but it’s such an achievement of a movie that I’m not complaining

    8. Some I thought were better than the books: the Maze Runner, Water for Elephants and the show the Queens Gambit

Edit: also I agree I Am Legend was better than the book but it has been a long time since I read it!

The Wizard of Oz, The Martian and Lord of the Rings did SOME things better than the book, The Battle for Helms Deep being one of them.

Jurassic Park is a tie between the book and the movie. But the movie is one of the greatest film adaptations of all time.
