A friend and I just finished reading the Grapes of Wrath, and through our book talks we keep coming to a point we disagree on. One of us believes Steinbeck takes an anti-immigrant take, citing the fact that the reason wages keep getting driven down in California is due to the immigration. The other one of us keeps saying that Steinbeck was instead anti-capitalist in these stances and not anti immigrants.
I know there probably isn’t a definite correct answer and that’s the beauty of book discussions, but thought I’d get us some extra opinions.
