Life has been rough (as a teacher I was threatened by an adult student, my mother is not doing too well and yesterday/today my house flooded with dirt from the sewers). My body is aching, I’m stressed and I need an easy read that will make me feel something again.
I usually go for non fiction but I don’t think that’s the best right now. Im having trouble staying focused.
My collection is full of philosophy (I love Hannah Arendt) and Russian classics. I feel to overwhelmed to read things like that. I’m looking for something lighter, but still containing food for thought. I’d love to have some recommendations I could share with my 18 y/O students as well, and I’d love to have a laugh

I really enjoy Emily St. John Mandels books. Station Eleven, The Glass Hotel, Last Night in Montreal, Sea of Tranquility Aretha ones I’ve read and enjoyed. I find her writing is so easy to read, I tear through the books. But there’s a lot to think about in them too. I hadn’t read in months and tore through Station Eleven in 24 hours.
