Last weekend I watched Poor Things in the theater, and I was fascinated by the bizarre nature of the premise. I won’t spoil it. But while the movie does have odd cinematography and dreamlike visuals, it’s never hard to follow. But the premise itself is quite odd and weird that it gives off a kind of macabre vibe to everything else.

A lot of Vonnegut’s writing has bizarre premises, but the writing is as neat and clean as you’d expect from a mid century author. If you’re specifically looking for bizarre plots, try Cat’s Cradle or Galapagos, both by him.
