Finally pulled myself together to finish The Winners today. Left the last 100 pages because I knew everything would happen too quick. And I hate it when everything gets out of control. When I see Mumble goes into the forest with a rifle, I feel my throat tightened. When I see the bass player stumble his way through to Maya to say he loved Benji, and afterwards play with Maya, for Benji, I feel my heart melts, and hurts bad. I can’t say anything about Matteo. I really can’t. But I love him. There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. There are a thousand Matteos, a thousand of everyone, and a thousand Beartowns in a thousand people’s eyes.
I need to talk about Beartown. I’ve got a thousand feelings in my heart and I can’t pour them out at once.
