Hi all, in recent months, I have come to realize that I love a specific type of book. Here are some of its characteristics:
* They are non-fiction books that nevertheless lean very heavily on colorful characters and plot development.
* They teach me something about economics, business and/or politics in such a way that I somehow feel less naive about ‘the world’ after reading.
* They are written by investigative journalists that combine good research with a compelling and suspenseful writing style, incl. chapter cliffhangers.
* They are relatively short, usually around 300-350 pages.
Some favorites that meet all of these requirements:
* ‘Blood and oil’ – Bradley Hope & Justin Scheck
* ‘Dead in the Water’ – Matthew Campbell & Kit Chellel
* ‘Number Go Up’ – Zeke Faux
* ‘Chaos Kings’ – Scott Patterson
* ‘Influence Empire’ – Lulu Yilun Chen
* ‘Chip War’ – Chris Miller
* ‘Black Edge’ – Sheelah Kolhatkar
* ‘The World for Sale’ – Javier Blas
I am looking for books that fit this list and meet the requirements, preferably recent ones. Thanks a lot!
