I’ve never seen it captured for too long, but I’ve caught soft murmurs. I’ll list out what I can below, but I apologize if it’s something more niche than I expected.
James from Silent Hill Two waking up from staring at himself in the mirror at the start of the game.
Johnny Truant’s crisis at hearing his mother call his name in House of Leaves.
The acquired anxiety that something or someone is just *missing* in Jacob’s Ladder.
The sense that something is wrong with Bluestar’s mind in the first Warriors series.
Danny Torrence playing in the topiary garden in The Shining.
The confusion of The Third Impact from all iterations of Evangelion.
The use of the autism emotional que cards to paint a deeper picture of Rell’s situation in Warframe.
Fischer becoming a literal bottomfeeder at the bottom of the ocean in Starfish.
I can’t make sense of the emotion these all have given me. Somewhere halfway between fear and peace, and always uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s cathartic and familiar, and others its like nostalgia if nostalgia was negative. Hope you all can help.
