Hello everyone! I’ve been looking for that “Classic Fantasy” book that’ll make a good cozy read for the fall. I recall reading Eragon a ways back and was hoping for something that would channel some of the things I liked about that series.

Any suggestions for a book where:
    1) The protagonist is human, or at least the book has humans in it.
    2) The dragons aren’t just evil killing machines and are actually complex characters.

I’ve also read “His Majesty’s Dragon,” which was also excellent!

    Thank you all in advance!

It’s not out until later in the year, but you might wanna check out “The Dragons of Deepwood Fens” by Bradley Beaulieu when it does come out.

Have you read fourth wing? I try and avoid the booktok books bc they usually aren’t deserving of the hype imo, but this one is actually good!

    3. Ursula K LeGuin’s Earthsea series is fantasy with dragons- more Eastern approach to dragons (not monsters, but wise and powerful)

    4. Have a look at Patricia Wrede’s dragon series, starting with Dealing with Dragons. It’s YA, but hits the mark you are looking for.

Also have a look at Anne McCaffrey’s Dragonriders of Pern series. Also YA, this is a sci-fi take on dragons.
