Bought the book on what must have been the dozenth post I saw on this sub about it. Finally picked it up yesterday after another dozen, did my usual stay-up-to-2am-reading until my eyes could no longer stay open. then finished it on an extended lunch break today. I feel like it’s been years that I’ve enjoyed a book that much!
I was not disappointed!
It was like comfort food (not junk food, not super-healthy super-food, definitely nutritious but that’s beside the point). I felt emotionally involved in the book right from the start.
I like Neal Stephenson’s style, but it can be heavy sometimes, both in tech/science speculative fiction, but also philosophy. PHM had the exact right balance between science, and the emotional journey travelled by a human on a path of self-discovery.

so… go read it you leaky space blobs!
