Something like Sin City (the movies) for example (but sex doesn’t need to be involved) or dark gritty sci fi’s/cyber punks. A bonus if it’s something I can relate to as a woman. FairylandDream on January 29, 2024 4:19 am Ooh! The Arch of Triumph! By Erich Maria Remarque! So so good!
NoZombie7064 on January 29, 2024 4:24 am The Kenzie-Gennaro series by Dennis Lehane is very noir and morally ambiguous. In A Lonely Place by Dorothy Hughes is an awesome noir novel from the POV of the killer. LA Confidential by James Ellroy is dark and gritty, and for a change the movie is excellent.

To me the Sympathizer had a nice gritty vibe
