One of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The sense of detachment, of nothing being imprinted throughout the story, makes every effort to give meaning to life ephemeral.

Everything we’ve possessed ends up possessing us, everything we’ve done will never count for anything, all the sacrifices of a lifetime end up being mundane routines, a monotonous imprisonment of habits.

The greatest fear? Not having a name, being nobody, never counting for anything, never having done anything significant because only in death do we have a name, only in death will they remember that we existed.

A beautiful book about the meaning of life and the struggle to keep living in a world that has never had meaning.

Did you get the same feelings?

Try Lullaby. That’s one of my favorites. And invisible monster (his first book) and sellevision by augusten burroughs

    2. Fight Club is just such a great book for evoking emotion! I know it was theoretically focusing on a specific social group’s experiences, but in my experience TONS of people identify with it, often in ways you didn’t expect.

If you haven’t seen the movie, it makes some changes to the plot that the author praised, it’s a lot of fun to compare the book and the movie.

    3. No. I find all of Palahniuks books to be masturbatory male fantasy. Choke, Snuff, Fight Club pretty much all the same
