    Hi everyone!

I am looking for recommendations on novels set around WWII. I’m not looking to learn history necessarily (although if the book is based on factual events or character it’s a big bonus) as long as it doesn’t contradict the history bluntly. I’m more into a good story. I’ve read this book a while back “A girl from Berlin” (not sure if that’s the English title as I’ve read it in another language), about a young girl who’s father helped develop the synthetic rubber. It showcased how Nazi germany transformed throughout the War, how her relationship with her father has changed and so on. If this rings a bell to anyone, that’s the kind of a book I’m looking for. I’m certain I’ll read “All the light we cannot see” and just based on the Netflix adaptation this is also something that I think could be a good reference point. Another thing would be spy novels, still set in WWII. Thanks in advance!

    1. It’s not fiction nor WWI (rightly downvote me into oblivion) but *Storm of Steel* by Jünger is absolutely crazy for showing the dehumanizing that occurs. He was a hero to the Nazis and Hitler tried to make him into a spokesperson, but he hated the Nazis and refused to affiliate in any way with them.

City of Thieves is a good one! It’s set during the siege of Leningrad. Quick read and it’s written by David Benioff who went on the write the game of thrones show
