Some of my favorite books I listened to last year were stories of normal lives thrown for a loop by some supernatural event:
– “Wrong Place, Wrong Time” by Gillian McAllister
– “The Echo Wife” by Sarah Gailey
– “The Measure” by Nikki Erlick
If you liked these books, what are some similar titles you’d recommend? Thanks!

“Watchers” by Dean Koontz is a classic where the book is much better than any screen adaptation you may have seen and the masterful audiobook solo performance read by Edoardo Ballerini makes it an especially worthwhile addition to an audiobook library collection.
The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
The Gone World – Tom Sweterlitsch. One part sci fi thriller involving time travel and one part police procedural. Travel is only possible to the future and back but something in the future is driving travelers violently insane.
These are books I read so I haven’t heard the audio but they fit what you’re looking for
We are satellites by Pinsker
The Punch Escrow by Klein
The Perfect Wife by Delaney
Foe by Reid
Version Control by Palmer
Girl One might interest you. It’s not a supernatural event, it’s scientific, but it features a heroine who just desperately wants to live a normal life and finds herself being targeted. I thought it was a great read!
Nightbitch (kind of)
The Need
My Murder
And along these lines, but no sci fi/magical realism at all), The Push
