Going through some tough stuff and looking for books that will transport me to another world, preferably with happy themes (though happy is not crucial, so long as the book is not outright depressing). “Transport” can either be through effective world building or a page turner…basically I’m looking for a book to dive in that’s really engrossing.
Recent faves have included:
Cozy fantasy: secret society of irregular witches, house on the cerulean sea
Pop fiction: remarkably bright creatures, tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow
My guilty pleasure is spy novels (Mitch Rapp, Jack Reacher…)
Also really enjoyed Andy Weir’s books.
Thanks!

Have you read The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis? I also really liked her To Say Nothing of the Dog. And the book the second one is based on, Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome, is very funny.
