Hi there! Im trying to get back into reading more fiction.
Historical fiction seems like a good place to start. I’m in a reenactment group and do a lot of reading about the historical practices of my hobbies, It would be awesome to see them well incorporated into a story. Or atleast not incorrectly portrayed or ridiculously vague. My craft is on the knitting/weaving/sewing side of things, but I’m really just really looking for books and authors that pay attention to historical details.
One caveat, I’m generally pretty adverse to self-labeled “historically accurate” things. Only extant artifacts are 100% historically accurate lol.

So yeah, I’m not really sure where to start. I don’t have a preference for time period or location. Femme protag and not too heavy on the romance would be nice. Occult stuff would be fun too? I’m pretty open.

    Any suggestions are much appreciated!

    1. Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin series. Late 18th/early 19th century Royal Navy Captain and Surgeon/Natural Philosopher/Spy during the Napoleonic Wars (and War of 1812). There is not much on this Earth as well written and researched and period correct (in all regards even language and society).

No female protagonists alas, but interesting and strong female secondary characters.
