I’ve lived a pretty gnarly life and I’d like to compare it to some charming stories that a author was brave enough to write about. I’ve read “Fear and loathing in Las Vegas” but I know there are others. Give me a hand? (Mostly stories about stimulants)

It’s a slow moving book about a painting , the protagonist gets some lemons in life and latches on to drugs at an early age in life.

In the Heir series by Cinda Williams Chima, the wizard character gets addicted to a drug that makes him more powerful. It only happens a few books in, though.

Anything written by Irvine Welsh, just finished acid house. Highly recommend transpotting. A classic in the drug genre
