I’m looking for books about the fae/fairies! I’m not opposed to romance/spice but it’s not my favorite (mostly it makes me cringe but some spice has worked for me, i’m very picky and easily get the ick :/) and I grew up reading the pixie hollow books, spiderwick chronicles/holly black’s tithe series and the darkest part of the forest (also the cruel prince but i didn’t care for it)
I have read the ACOTAR series and it made me so mad because the fae BARELY feel like fae imo they have no rules or structure, and i feel like the characters BARELY EVER use their powers. I have already read Emily Wilde and LOVED it, if there’s books similar to that? I really like the lore aspect and the plot was fun with a romance dynamic that i actually liked. TY!!

Try the Onyx Court series by Marie Brennan. No spice. Lots of political maneuvering. Set below London. First book is during the 1500s. Second is in the 1600s. There are 4 books, but I’m just finishing book 2. I’m assuming that they are also set in the past.
The Iron Druid series is pretty good, it has the Tuatha de Danan
