I’m looking for a book in which the MC’s are husband & wife. Any genre, but fantasy preferred. Non-toxic relationships only. I want a healthy vibe between the couple, but book plot itself can be dark. Couple can be together all the time or have their own little side quests/sub plots. Must be an actual married couple at some point – not a love interest, paramour or prostitute. Actual spouses.
Outlander & Clan of the Cave Bear books 2-6 are all examples.

Be Here to Love Me at the End of the World was a cute but weird book about a non-toxic couple living in a dystopia. The descriptions of the food he makes were incredible.
It’s a sequel, but Barrayar by Lois McMaster Bujold has an incredible married couple as their central characters. They have realistic conflict (in a sci-fi world) about cultural differences but love and support each other throughout the book. Definitely fits the darker plot but good relationship request. It’ll make more sense if you read Shards of Honor (the first book) first but you don’t have to.
The In Death series by JD Robb gets them together in the first few books and then there are dozens and dozens of the series where Eve and Roarke are married and their relationship is written really well. Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series also has MCs getting together in the second or third book and then are married and working as a team for the rest of the series.
I haven’t read it, but I’ve seen loads of people recommend The Hexologists by Josiah Bancroft
Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs has this – the couple is together by book 3 and married by book 6, I believe.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell is excellent. The marriage is in trouble at the beginning of the book, but the two of them have long phone conversations over the holidays and >!they end up back together at the end of the book.!< One of my favorites 🙂
Hawk & Fisher, by Green. Almost no romance, and they totally have each others’ back.
Time Traveler’s Wife maybe!
