Mediocrity is often seen as something to be ashamed of. A lot of people believe that they have “so much potential” and find meaning in the possibility of being great and remembered, but the truth is that statistically it is much more likely to be mediocre than to be great.
How does one cope with the realization that they are most probably not special? Not even that intelligent, not even that talented, not even that great, and that one will meet a bunch of people who will be much better than us in those things that we once believed ourselves to be somewhat good at.
I’d like to read some books about this topic, can you suggest me some?

I think you and I may have slightly different ideas of what mediocrity is. But you may be interested in **The Power of Now** by Eckhart Tolle.
If you are mediocre by today’s standards it means you would have been great at any other time in history.
