    1. Red Earth and Pouring Rain by Vikram Chandra is a reimagining of the Arabian Nights that focusses heavily on Indian history with a good amount of mythology thrown in. The framing narrative is mental and I wasn’t initially keen but it ended up being one of my favourite books!

The Palace of Illusions by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. It is a captivating novel that retells the epic story of the Mahabharata from a unique perspective. It’s a mix of history, mythology, and imagination, and it focuses on the life and emotions of Draupadi. If you enjoy stories with strong female protagonists, ancient tales, and a touch of magic, you’ll likely find this book fascinating.
