Next week I’m hosting the first meeting of a new book club, and I’m starting to get the jitters. Do any fellow book clubbers have any advice on how to get things rolling and keep them rolling? Any general advice about running a book club? What makes a book club fun, exciting, or great?

It’s a Meetup group (10 people) so none of us know each other. Is there any way to make the introductions around the table not so awkward? I’m the host of the group, but I’m not a natural leader (for people or conversations), how do I navigate this role? Should I have a list of questions ready? I don’t want it to feel like school, with me as the teacher, but what if nobody else has any questions/starters to toss out there? What do I do if someone is a conversation hog? Is it even my job to do anything about that?

Any advice or tips are welcome!
