First off, sorry to hear about you mother, hopefully a good book and support will keep her spirits up.
I’d recommend the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams. Its a decent length trilogy of five parts, so she’ll be busy with it a bit. It is a good humor book, but also touches upon philosophy and such, so it can get a bit deep. I enjoyed it when I read it, and helped me be able to look at life from a different perspective.
I love Thomas H Cook’s mystery/thriller novels. The two I’ve read so far are “The Interrogation” and “Master of the Delta”. Great buildup and plot twists! I hope your mom enjoys the read(s) and I hope everything goes smoothly with her treatment! : )
