My sister, BIL, and I want to read a book together. We would like to read a short story collection so we can take breaks when needed. BIL prefer science fiction, I prefer horror, and my sister doesn’t care. So looking for something that would work for everyone.

I’d recommend Ray Bradbury’s short story collections, The Illistrated Man and The Martian Chronicles. They are heavy into Sci-Fi, but have a slight horror feel to them, especially the view of people and what they’re capable of. Both are great collections, but if I’m partial to one, it’s The Illistrated Man.
Arcanum Unbounded by Brandon Sanderson is more fantasy than sci-fi, but it has some good stories! There are a couple that are kind of dark, although far from horror.
I am a big fan of the Best American series. The mystery and suspense version is always my favorite. Although this year was not as good as years past.
Have you read any of Stephen King’s collections? I absolutely love his short stories.
