I (16f) have always LOVED reading but I stopped when Covid hit and I CANT get back into it. I like pretty much anything bc I’ll watch tv ab pretty much anything but I’m looking for a super interesting and fun read, or at least one that glues you to the book. I love WW2 historical fiction, romance books that aren’t HORRIBLY cheesy, books like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, series of unfortunate events, etc.
Two books I’ve read over the past year and loved were verity by Colleen Hoover (sorry 😭) and normal people by Sally Rooney

You sound like you’re ready for a step up. What about Little Women or Jane Eyre ?
Have you tried Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer??
Ilona Andrew’s Hidden Legacy is one of my favorites. It’s a grown up version of books like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson with a side of slow burn romance.
If you want more YA fantasy books like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson check out Rick Riordian Imprint. Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee is excellent.
https://rickriordan.com/rick-riordan-presents/ Also, if you like audiobooks ZeroG is excellent. It’s graphic audio so many voice actors and sound effects.
For some 🔥🔥🔥 romance try Neon Gods by Katee Robert.
Have you tried any Madeline Miller books? If you like Percy Jackson, you will LOVE her stories.
Galatea is a bite size look at the story of a carving artist who makes his creation come to life.
Circe and Song Of Achilles are both incredible!
If you’re more into YA, I can’t recommend Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy series. Her writing style can grip even the most reluctant reader minds. It’s my go to comfort series every time I’m in a slump.
Hope that helps! 📚 Happy Reading!
Going by your two recent reads try The Idea of You by Robinne Lee or The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
Some authors who are always good(for me) for an interesting &/or fun time are: Ilona Andrews, Seanan McGuire, T. Kingfisher, & Nghi Vo. Some series that could work are: The Rivers of London series by Ben Aaronovich, The Scholomance series by Naomi Novik, The Rook & Rose series by M.A. Carrick, Swords & Fire series by Melissa Caruso(there’s a 2nd series in the same world if you like the 1st). If you like romance w/an emotional punch, I’d recommend checking out Kennedy Ryan.
If you haven’t tried The Hunger Games I definitely recommend them! They’re pretty binge-able.
The Book Thief, All The Light We Cannot See and Beneath a Scarlet Sky are excellent and engaging novels set in World War II.
Crave series by Tracy Wolff
Secrets of the Tally by Hailie Fewkes
Shatter Me series by Taherah Mafi
You might like Murakami
He got me actually reading books again and only since 2021
He does tie in WWII, but from a Japanese perspective. I’ve read four of his books now: 1Q84, Kafka on the Shore (re-reading), Wind Up Bird Chronicle (recently re-read), & Norwegian Wood
you can see, even from the titles, that he references literature and music from other cultures. Enjoy!
