Hi everybody,
I’m new to reading, used to when I was a kid but trying to get back into it. Recently read my first book in probably a decade, it was Blindsight by Peter Watts, it very good.
I’d like to read books maybe similar to the movies I like which are:
Annihilation, The Endless, Prometheus, Cloverfield, Coherence and a lot more like this. I pretty much like sci fi / horror / thriller with some mystery twists and wild endings.
I’m thinking I might read Solaris yet think there are probably better alternatives to my preferences. Please let me know any recommendations, thank you very much!

Blake Crouch’s **Dark Matter** – cross-dimensional man-on-the-run.
Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It’s sort of a sci-fi Canterbury Tales – seven shorter novellas within the larger story framework. A really unique book.
Not quite sure if this fits your genre preference but Cabin at the End of the World was a good read. Also, Girl With All the Gifts.
Going back to some classics, there’s The Stand, and Andromeda Strain (a true classic).
Blindsight is good too. And more on the sci-inside but with a little horror thrown in is the Leviathan Wakes, the first book in the Expanse series. That series is really good (as is the show that is based on it) but later books are less horror, more sci-fi. I think only finished six of the nine.
Ship of Fools by Richard Russo
Eclipse by Ophelia Rue
