Finished rereading Harry Potter, and then went straight to “We Need to talk about Kevin” (heart-wrenching) and “Violeta” (by Allende).
So I need to go back to something a little lighter to repair myself. Looking for some dystopian fantasy with a female protagonist that is NOT about love (may have it as an addition), preferably set in a low fantasy world or science fiction (don’t really like vampires and the like)
The ones I have already read that fall within this description are (in order of preference in case that helps anyone) :
– Hunger games
– The Circle
– The Testing
– The Red Queen
– The Selection
– The Queen of the Tearling
– Divergent

The Golden Compass
A Long Way to A Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. Would call it cozy relationship(but not necessarily romance)-focused sci-if.
Aurora Rising and Skyward are both sci fi but super fun (aurora is minimal romance, skyward is none). More like, vague dystopia than outright.
