Antiques, pocketwatches, jewelry, silverware, coins etc. Doesn’t have to contain all this in one book ofcourse.
To elaborate, I vaguely remember in some antiques show an item was identified as a fake because a certain detail could only be made after year x because the technique wasn’t around in the time the fake was trying to imitate. Books that explain certain processes or details unique to the era, or what tell tale signs of forgery are. Books that give a better understanding of precious metals. I know this is a broad request I love thrifting and the thrill of finding something old and/or valuable and want to get better at it.
I already ordered ‘a modern guide to ancient jewelry’ and ‘world ency of coins & coin collecting.
It can be specific about an item (i.e. a book about x century pocket watches) but i’d prefer to understand materials and production processes etc. better before I dive into a specific sort of item
