Finished this book by Vladimir Nabokov yesterday and I can’t get it out of my head. I’ve read Russian authors like Chekhov, Tolstoy, Bulgakov and even Dostoevsky, but this book has impacted me in a way none of the others could.

Not only was I blown away by the narrative of a mentally degrading chess player and his social interactions (being an avid chess player and somewhat anti-social myself), I was more impressed by how the book is written. The structure, or I should say the lack thereof, forced me to devote myself fully to the book. The sheer fluidity in the composition and how it shifts perspectives without warning is what I found absolutely fascinating.

Just wanted to get this out there. Have any of you read it? If so, do you agree with my experience?
