I’ve been feeling lonely lately with all my friends coupling up so was looking for a recommendation of a happy, good vibes, cosy book, except with absolutely no romance in it (see lonely from surrounded by couples). No main or side characters with romantic arcs or anything. It doesn’t have to be strictly “cosy fantasy” and can have some darker themes or be more adventure-y (e.g. Nettle and Bone, Tress of the Emerald Sea), but in general a positive and uplifting book.

Fantasy/Speculative Fiction is preferred, but open to all genres 🙂

Books that kind of fit the vibe but have already read/have romance: Piranesi, Nettle and Bone, The House on the Cerulean Sea, Paladin’s Grace, and A Psalm for the Wildbuilt, Howl’s Moving Castle

Technically meant for kids, but maybe try the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce? It’s not all cozy per se but overall really positive with great strong female protagonists as well.

The Hands of the Emperor by Victoria Goddard!! It has a very heavy focus on platonic relationships and is so fantastic. I’m aroace myself, so it was *so* nice to read such a beautiful book where romance really didn’t feel very front of mind. It’s so cozy and so satisfying, and even though it’s very very long, I didn’t once feel bored.
