I am not really a big manga or graphic novel fan, in fact I didn’t really know what manga was until my nephew told me, which kind of brings me here. My nephew is absolutely obsessed with the stuff. As well as he recently came out to me as gay, because I also am gay, which when I came out it was a pretty hard thing for most of our family to accept so he’s a bit nervous about coming down to anyone cause of it
So I thought for his next birthday I would get him a gay/lgbt book series, just something to help him Feel more normal about being who he is, Because my sister is extremely Catholic and doesn’t even like to bring up the talk about sexuality and stuff. So as I don’t know much about Manga’s or graphic novels I was hoping I get some recommendations here. he’s dyslexic so I dont want to give him a regular book because he struggles too much with big paragraphs, any would be nice. But probably something PG-13 because I’m pretty sure his mom would murder me if she ever found out I gave him something with smut.

First thing I’m going to say is you’re about to get accused of being a pedo by your sister and I can see why. It’s something you’re forcing on him the exact same way you’re offended by her forcing religion on him.
I wouldn’t give him any such book and instead have a conversation about the books you like and why it’s important for representation and allow him to ask you for a book when he is ready so it’s of his own valuation and not looking creepy. He’s still a kid and kids will go about reaching for books on sexuality and relationships when they are ready. His library probably has thematic books as well.
