Naval exploration and seafaring myths

Hi I really want a book about naval exploration with some myths like krakens, sirens etc. The myths can be from secondhand stories that the characters tell eachother or fullblown firsthand encounters with a kraken, I’d take anything at this point. The main part is the adventure/exploration/discovery so not Lovecraft (haven’t read everything from him so excuse my ignorance if he has something like that). Thanks in advance.
