Classic Lit Suggestions for Visiting Rome, Italy

Hi! I will be visiting Rome for the first time as an adult in March and would love some suggestions.

I would strongly prefer nothing more recent than about 1980, but open to all recommendations.

Anything I’ve ever read on big trips are forever associated with that location, so I want the “vibes” to be right.
