Hope this is allowed, but I am at the stage of crafting query letters for a novel I’ve written, but I can’t think of any comps. Hoping that if I give a brief description of genre and tropes, someone might be able to suggest something. (This isn’t intended as self-promotion, like I doubt this book will even get published but I intend to give it a shot) I’m looking for books about main characters in their mid-20s who have lived a fairly “safe/boring/routined” life and recent circumstances force them into stepping out of their comfort zone, sort of like a coming-of-age novel, but with an adult protagonist. I’m also looking for comps to soft (very soft) sci-fi, which is in the “near future” and explores A.I, and/or soft sci-fi which includes elements of romance, cozy mystery or a heist. Bonus points for a sci-fi book which is also an adult coming-of-age tale. Ideally, any books suggested will have been published within the past five years. E.g: My main comp ideas so far are The Messenger by Markus Zusak and All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Anders and both of these books are too old for comps, really.
