(new to Reddit, this is my first post I’m still learning how to use it lol)

I just started getting into reading again starting college to pass time and entertain myself while also retaining some form or knowledge. I’m currently reading “A Child Called It”, by Dave Pelzer. I’ve read somewhat of similar books and had to break it up because I took it so hard, I’m a very sympathetic cryer and “feeler”. Does anyone have a good book/(s) to read during the time of the breaks between each read? Preferably an uplifting read. Thanks !

Apathy and Other Small Victories by Paul Neilan might be the change of pace you’re looking for.

**A Man Called Ove by Fredrick Backman**

When I picked this book up I was knee deep in psychological horror genre and it provided me with a well needed change. Well written, humorous at times and an overall refreshing read.

Rollicking fun horror is the Pine Deep Trilogy by Jonathan Maberry. Ghost Road Blues, Dead Man’s Song, Bad Moon Rising. The books take place at Halloween. Its got a serial killer, zombies, werewolf, vampires, ghouls. Watch out for domestic violence, r@pe, child abuse. Well written, complex, dark, and fun.

The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune is quite uplifting. It’s an odd contemporary fantasy and quite pleasant.
