What’s a book that had such a plot twist that you sobbed your eyes out? Or just plain traumatic
I’m looking for a book that will keep me mentally deranged for a few days to be honest. Anything that’ll make me think about it for a week or so even after I’ve finished it.
{{abandon}} by Blake crouch. left me so upset at the unfairness of it that I couldn’t stop thinking about it for months

Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead. It won the Pulitzer and it deserves it.

Young Mungo by Douglas Stewart. Read it last summer, still broken up over it.

Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy. I saw it recommended by someone who primarily read horror so expected something dark and was totally blindsided. Honestly the twist wasn’t super shocking but by the time I got there it was 6am and I hadn’t got to bed yet (due to ADHD reading hyperfocus) and was exhausted and the whole thing was already depressing in general as it’s set in a near future where most wildlife has gone extinct. So I ending up waking my husband up out of a dead sleep and sobbing to him before passing out lmao. I’m never touching that book again.
