I (26F) have read 16 books so far this month, which is more than I have ever achieved in the first month, when it’s come to my GR reading challenge in past years, and I feel like I’m hitting my first slump of 2024. I have tree books left (two over 500 pages and one over 300 pages) on my Jan TBR and Haunting Adeline is the one that I chose and the highest page count of them.
I’m 30 pages in and I’ve already put it down twice because I was (as we Brits say) nodding off, both times. I just can’t seem to get through more than a few pages each time I pick it up.
I’ve always been dubious of reading any hyped or over-hyped books; whether they be recommended by those on social media apps or by bookish content creators themselves as those hyped books don’t always live up to said hype. As a Dark Romance girlie, I thought that this would be right up my street but I’m really struggling.

Should I power through to the 100 page mark and see if it gets better and becomes more interesting/entertaining or should I just DNF? Anyone else who has read this…what would you recommend I do and did you have similar issues with it?
