Hi everyone!! I am currently pregnant and want suggestions from you guys as the books I generally like to read are on the sadder / darker side. I would like to read something positive while not straying too far away from the genre I enjoy. If you could please suggest some books based on the ones that I have read and enjoyed.

Some of these are The book thief, the kite runner, a thousand splendid suns, mornings in Jenin, kafka on the shore, 1Q84, sense of an ending, to kill a mockingbird, little women, Gone with the wind, wuthering heights.

    1. Weyward by Emilia ~~Clarke~~ *Hart*. The right mood for spooky season too cause there is some witchcraft/magical realism. The main character is a pregnant woman and it is the story of the power of the women in her family across generations. Not super sad exactly, but lots of resilience, adversity and growth from the MC.

Based on your book list you will probably like Lucinda riley. Her Seven Sisters book series is great. The Italian girl is also good amongst most of her others.

The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Carrie sotto is back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

      The nightingale by Kristin Hannah

Where the crawdads sing Delila Owen’s

      The island by Victoria hislop

      Still life by Sarah Winman

The miseducation of Evie Epworth by Matson Taylor

The queen of bloody everything Joanna Nadin

Hopefully some of these are to your tastes

    3. Maybe check out books by Anita Desai and A.L. Kennedy. Also Margaret Atwood if you haven’t already but go for earlier, not recent. Maybe Doris Lessing too. Hope you find some books you love. 😺
