Nearly every time recommendations are asked for, this book comes up. I have a copy on my shelf next to me. Do I bite the bullet?

Also, are there any books out there similar, in terms of the “changing the course of history” genre?

    1. I liked Connie Willis’s Oxford Time Travel series much better as far as exploring potential alterations to the timeline. I liked the characters much better, I was much more invested, and I just thought the writing was much better. (Stephen King can sometimes fall a little far into the MenWritingWomen trap for my taste)

That said, I enjoyed 11/22/63 a lot and it read much faster than I would have expected given the sheer volume. I would definitely suggest reading it, especially if you’re a fan of time travel narratives. I’m very glad I did and I think I rated it 4/5 stars on Goodreads. I won’t be rereading it, while I have revisited Connie Willis (Doomsday Book, To Say Nothing of the Dog, Blackout, & All Clear).

    2. I loved it! Why don’t you try reading a few pages and see if it hooks you?

One other book I’d recommend with a similar time travel / changing history theme is Kindred by Octavia Butler. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon also deals with this but also has a strong romance plot, which you may or may not be into.
